How to Operate BooF Bots

Step 1 ~ VALR Sub Account

Assuming you already have a VALR account with 2-factor authentication.

On the desktop website, using the top-right dropdown menu, create a new sub-account.

Step 2 ~ API Keys

With the new sub-account active, again using the top-right dropdown menu, click on 'API Keys' and select 'Create New Key'.

Step 3 ~ API Key Access

Select both 'View' and 'Trade' access for the API key, following the instructions and saving the Key and Secret codes somewhere secure.

The bot requires both View and Trade access to operate.

Step 4 ~ BooF Bot

After you've created an account with BooF and logged in, click on the "+Create Bot" tab.

You'll be directed to a form asking for a Name, Key, and Secret. The name is for your own use only, but the Key and Secret codes need to be the ones obtained from VALR in the previous step.

The bot will not be created if the Key and Secret codes are not valid.

Click on "Create".

Step 5 ~ Bot Config

You'll be directed back to the home page, where the new bot will be visible.

Click on the Config button at the bottom of the bot's section.

Set the quote currency the bot should balance with ("ZAR", "USDC", "USDT").

Set the margin to between 1% and 15%.

Choose options for 'Refined Weight', 'Dynamic Margin' and 'Downturn Protection'

Finally, select 'Activate' and click on the 'Update' button

You're bot will now start buying the relevant currencies, monitor the prices and buy/sell when the indicated margins has been reached.

Note:

The bot will automatically buy the maximum available cryptocurrencies available for the relevant quote currency, based on minimum trade and margin, and adjust as the total value available changes.

If there is not enough equity available to trade, then the bot will increase the margin until trading is possible.

A minimum investment of R30 000 is recommended for the bot to run cost-effectively, but less is possible.

To run the bot for 4 weeks costs 1 credit, with 1 credit costing $30.

As a signup bonus will gifted to you to test out the bots.

Following is a list of cryptocurrencies to balance with each quote currency (at time of writing):

ZAR: AVAX, BNB, BTC, DOGE, ETH, SHIB, SOL, TRX, XAUT, XRP

USDC: AVAX, BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP

USDT: ETH, SOL, AVAX, WIF, JUP, BOME, PYTH, W, MEME, ORDER, ZRO, BNB, POPCAT, PNUT, GOAT, NEIRO, PENGU, SWEAT, AGRI, SHIB, XAUT, S, DOGE, TRX, BTC, AVAX, DOGE, SOL, TRUMP, XRP, ETH, XRP, BTC

The bot will trigger a buy/sell when the individual crypto's value has deviated from the average by more than the margin, then reverted by a fraction of the margin. This is for the purpose of buying/selling the peaks and valleys instead of just when the margin has been reached.

The bot's rebalancing (mean-reversion) strategy prefers a horizontal market and suffers under a trending market. To remedy this, weight refinement and dynamic margins have been introduced to limit the impact of a downtrend and profit from an uptrend. These adjustments can have a negative impact on the core strategy.

Dynamic margin takes the individual tickers relative volatility(beta) and true range(ATR%) and adjusts the set margin to push either more frequent trades for low volatility and bigger profits for higher volatility. The influence of this is limited to 20%.

Refined weights adjusts the Fiat-Crypto balance based on the general trend of the index, with Fiat favoured in a downwards trend relative to the trend's strength. This adjustment is limited to 20%

Downturn Protection protects the investment from a significant market downtrend. When the general trend falls below 0.9 the bot liquidates its positions and stops its trading, then starts and re-invests when the trend recovers to above 0.98. Please note that when this option is selected the bot will start even if you have not activated it.

It is strongly suggested to set the config of the bot before activating and not tamper with it afterward to avoid upsetting the bot's buy/sell pattern, thus making bad trades.

A portion of the investment will be staked (where possible), but lending will not be made available due to the 1-hour lock on funds.

Allowing the fiat portion to be lent out during Downturn Protection is under consideration.
